While his companions fall victim to possession, Ash loses his hand to a possessed Linda in the first Evil Dead (1981) and later replaces it with a chainsaw; the chainsaw hand does not appear in the first film. In Evil Dead II (1987), his hand becomes possessed and he cuts it off himself.
